Today Unite Scotland has announced that their members who are former employees of Jamie’s Italian have won their employment tribunal case, raised via Unite and represented by Allan McDougall Solicitors. The judge agreed that the company failed to consult its workers before they were made redundant and awarded eight weeks’ wages to every one of the claimants.
Unite Scotland said: “Thanks to Allan McDougall Solicitors for representing our members in court and winning justice for them. We hope this sends a clear message to others to engage progressively with employees via their trade union.”
Gordon Bathgate, who led the case for Allan McDougall Solicitors, commented: “We are delighted and proud to have supported Unite Scotland and its members in this important case.”
